Jorge Fernández Menéndez on Germán Martínez falling on his sword:
Germán Martínez resigned on Monday from the national presidency of the PAN in a worthy act following the electoral defeat of his party. It's not a bit from our politicians: en 2000, Dulce María Sauri stayed on for the PRI after the defeat of Francisco Labastida and in 2006 we had to wait for a new internal election so that months later Beatriz Paredes arrived to the presidency. In the PRD a party president has never resigned for bad electoral results. In the PAN, Luis Felipe Bravo Mena stayed at the head of the PAN almost a ear after the results in 2003, so as to turn over the party to Manuel Espino (who now demands the party's independence from the president, when his arrival to the PAN was caused by his closeness to Vicente Fox).
