Mexican Internet

The OECD tells us that Mexico's prices for high-speed internet are more expensive than any other country's in the 30-nation organization. I believe it. I pay TelMex some $35 a month (one more ivory backscratcher for Carlos Slim?). Further, my router is garbage, and maybe 75 percent of the time I have to walk to a cafe with wireless service.

As a result, internet literacy is awful. Barely 20 percent of the nation uses the internet, despite the fact that 70 percent of Mexicans live in urban areas. That's lower than the percentage in Costa Rica, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and Uruguay, not to mention the nations of western Europe and the East Asia. Not so hot, Mexico.
