On Monday, Jesús
Ortega defended the plans for PRD-PAN alliances in states run by "authoritarian governments" on Monday, but over the last couple of days more heavyweight voices have been voicing alarm. First, PRI Senate boss (and key PAN collaborator on legislative issues) Manlio Fabio
Beltrones called such alliances a "deformity". Then, Interior Secretary Fernando
Gómez Mont referred them "electoral frauds". The tide, then, would seem to be turning against the alliances, which means the heirs of Ulises Ruiz and Mario Marín are more likely to take office.
